Water Fountain Accessories – 3 Must Have Water Fountain Accessories

A water fountain if used in an interior space will create a center of attraction at the same time bringing life into the room. The beautiful visual impact as well as soothing sound it produces can bring a kind of calm atmosphere.

There are certain ways by which you can further increase the value of your water fountain using accessories. Here are the top 3 most commonly used accessories to enhance the beauty of any water fountain of any size.

1) Colored LED lights – This type of accessory is optional and can be used in any fountain to add an extra touch of interest almost immediately. LED lights can be submerged into water container at the bottom and throw light upward towards the stream of flowing water. This can create great ambience in the interior space. Some LED projection lights have colored filters at the end to change the color of light.

2) Stone pebbles – Stone pebbles are available in all sizes for a variety of water fountains. These reside at the bottom of the fountain where the water finally gets collected. Depending upon the design and color scheme of your fountain you can choose the color of pebbles as well. Pebbles can be obtained from a local hobby store and are available in white, fully black, red varieties. Even polished pebbles with shiny texture are available which look very cool in an indoor water fountain.

3) Water fountain cleaning kit – This kit is a must if your fountain has metallic parts in it. Many times the central water collector of the fountain is made of copper or any other metal. In such cases it is possible that die to atmospheric exposure the copper surface of the bowl loses it’s shine over a period of few months. To avoid this a cleaning kit can be used to regularly wash out the deposits from the bowl surface and maintain it’s shine. It is necessary to clean the bowl from inside also because the water may react with the metallic surface internally always producing a white line along it’s top edge.

Thus water fountain accessories if used properly can definitely enhance the beauty of your fountain and at the same time improve it’s life. There is no harm in trying out any of the accessories available in the market and feet the difference for yourself.

Floor Water Fountain And Their Use In Decorating

As the name suggests a floor water fountain is a stand-alone water fountain which can be used practically anywhere as a filler and immediately add life in to that space. These types of fountain come into a variety of shapes, sizes and materials.

Depending upon where you intend to install a floor fountain you can select from a wide variety of design including metallic, stone, marble, granite, cement and glass fountains.  These can be kept in a room to fill a corner unused space at the same time a floor fountain in the form of a vertical water curtain can be used as a divider between two interior spaces such as living room and dining area.

These types of fountain can also be used in the garden because they are practically maintenance free. If you are planning to use on in your garden then it is advisable to use a stone or a cement fountain because they have a mush more larger capacity to withstand atmospheric exposure and will need very less maintenance. The only maintenance you may require is cleaning the leaves that fall into the water collector from the surrounding trees.

While selecting floor water fountain for your garden make sure to have a closer look at the overall landscaping design theme of your garden and maintain a visual balance with every other element in the garden. For example if the pathways in your garden are made up of brick with a cement curbing then it is a good idea to include the brick colored element in the fountain too.

On the other hand metallic fountains require regular cleaning of their metal water collector because the metal surface may get a coating on it’s surface due to reaction with atmospheric gases. Water fountain cleaning kits are available to clean the metallic surface and maintain their shine.

Thus there are many great uses of using floor water fountain in almost every home decorating area. Use your imagination and use this amazing accessory to create interesting spaces that you as well as your family will always remember.

Outdoor Garden Water Fountains – How To Choose the Right One?

If you have decided to install a outdoor garden water fountain but are not very sure about how to go about finding the right one then I’m going to show you a very easy way to solve your problem.

The first thing you must do to know which design theme your landscaping garden fits into. Is it of ornamental style? or country style? Are there many curved shaped spaces or straight pathways. This is very easy to find out just by looking at the garden for yourself without any professional help.

If it’s a planned garden then it must have certain common elements in it’s design such as repetitive use of a certain color or material or example all pathways are made up with brick and at the same time compound wall also uses brick as it’s base material. You will have to observe this and takes short notes if possible.

Why we are doing this exercise because the fountain you choose must blend with the visual qualities of your garden and not break the flow. Once you get to know the theme there are 3 simple steps to finalize your choice of an outdoor garden fountain.

1) Material  – Fountains are available in stone, cement, marble, granite, glass, copper, stainless steel and ceramic. However it is strongly advisable not to use metallic fountain in outdoors. This is because they get affected by atmospheric exposure and lose their shine after a few months if not maintained properly. Natural materials such as stone is the best for an outdoor fountain. You can even match it’s color based on your previous exercise.

2) Budget – This is an altogether personal choice depending upon how much you want to add value to your entire garden. A little online research will give you an idea about the costs of various designs of garden fountains.

3) Custom made fountain – If you are not happy about the kind of designs available in the market today then you can order a custom-made fountain from a professional company. These guys will first have a look at your landscaping garden and then come up with a unique design just right for your allotted space for the fountain.

Thus installing an outdoor garden water fountain can add great amount of value to the property. You should always give it a try and experience the joy of having one in your garden.

Decorate Your Yard With a Backyard Water Fountain

Backyard water fountains have really changed over the years. Today they are made out of all different kinds of materials like copper, stainless steel, bronze, stone, even fiberglass. If you are thinking about purchasing a fountain, there are some things you should take into consideration.

Backyard fountains can be found all over the place in trade shows and gardening magazines. There are many different styles so you’ll probably have a few choices to make.

My favorite style of fountain is made out of stone. You can go to Mexico and see large, handmade stone fountains, and these are the most beautiful. Some mass-produced fountains from China are even made of stone, but you can’t really tell because they crush the rock and mix it with resin to fit in a mold.

Another option is to build your own fountain. There are many products out there to get you started.

The easiest way to build a backyard fountain is to get a small water pump and place it in a small tub or over a liner. You would then cover the liner with either a plastic of mesh grating and cover it with a layer of rock and small pebbles.

Next, you want to connect some PVC pipe to the pump so water will rise up out of the rocks. Black PVC pipe for sprinklers is the best at concealing your setup, but its also expensive so you make the choice. This way you won’t have to worry about kids or pets getting in the way.

This would be a great time to build a small waterfall! Then just cover up all your electrical and tubing under large rocks.

If you bought your backyard water fountain in a store, it should tell you what size pump you need, if it doesn’t come with the fountain. If your making your own, you should try to estimate so that every inch of width you add, you have about 100 gallons per hour being pumped. Remember elevation will also affect how much water you are pumping. Many newer pumps can be adjusted or turned down, but not much.
